Tradeing in and up/down

Greeting my friends

Well, we are getting ready to head out over the road again.  Timing is everything we were going to go next week to Eastern Washington But it seems the smoke from the fires will keep us home. we are going over in October and we will post the results of that trip then.

In the mean time we have been looking to trade our 2007 Nitro for another car.  We once again approached several dealers and here are the results of our search.

we went to Monroe Washington, looked around could not get any real information, We will not and I repeat NOT, purchase a car from any dealership that has the name Lane or Rairdon in it.. We have been there and the service stinks, and Rairdon in Monroe sold us a stolen vehicle with a bad title on it.  so we were left with Seaview in Lynnwood, which we love and have always has good experience with and the old faithful Roy Robinson,  We thought about Blade Chev in Mt Vernon but a little far for our needs.  we did check out their web link and could not find any car we were interested in.  Though I have heard nothing BUT GOOD things about Blade.

We did eventually go for a 2002 Chev Trailsblazer from Roy Robinson, Even though we were hesitant at first, the difference they were offering was not in our wheel house a being fair. they were offing us a lot less than the Nitro was worth.  I contacted Mark King and am waiting to hear if they honestly will do what is right and make us a great deal.  I am sure they will  I will keep in contact here to let you know what happens.

I want to thank all of your for taking your time to read my post. it means alot to me that you actually are doing some research and wanting to know more about what is going on.

Have a great trip, enjoy the journey, and may the God of peace be ever with you.

RV and Towable list of Autos

Greeting from the road my friends;

Let me begin by saying that I have searched and searched for a tow-able vehicle list.  Ones you can tow 4-wheels down. Because U-haul does not wish to rent just heir trailer for vehicle towing without their truck, and the trailers cost way to much just to buy one for seasonal use.  Motor home Magazine has what is supposed to be a list but when I went there they just had a bunch of blogs and writers giving advice and not really a good list of vehicles... I went to other sites like GMC, Saturn, Kia, and others and got the same run around...  There are no list of vehicles that are 4-wheel down tow-able types.  the one on Motor-home Mag. went into "it depends on what you want to use it for, how your traveling alone, two people or family, BUT, never gave the list for either.

If you got a list please let me know.

I also want to add that I had to take the motor-home we purchased back to Roy Robinson because of a furnace problem. They fixed the problem NO CHARGE, they just keep getting customer service right.

Anyway. Keep safe out there. watch out for 4-wheelers and Big rigs, share the road and watch for bugs..

RV's and More

Greetings from the road my fellow RVers

I know this Blog is about RVing and traveling across the country. BUT, a big part of RVing is also sightseeing and for those with Motorhomes they have a few options.
1. Driving the motorhome down town and everywhere else....Not a safe or realistic option for most RVers.  some of the sites you want to go to do not have RV Parking or the parking is a long way from the actual sight or attraction.
2. You park the motorhome and  and get a scooter or a Segway or a scooter and run around the park.. the problem here is if the camp site you are at is a ways from the actual place you want to see you may have problems getting there.

3. This way is you will be towing a vehicle. either flat tow or on a trailer or some way to tow.  and this is a great way to travel. the problem is parking the motorhome in some parks towing a vehicle is hard to do..

BUT, this is what my article this week is about.  Purchasing a tow vehicle.

There is alot of vehicles that you can tow. BUT, if your flat towing you have to make sure of three things
1. The vehicle has to be tow-able. Some are not.
2. You have to make sure the vehicle has a neutral transmission
3. You have to be aware your RV just got longer.
4. I am finding a to out about the difference between Flat Towing, Dolly or Trailer towing.   either way your Motorhome or camper just got longer,   and if your not careful you can tear the tranny out of a car your towing.

LET ME ADD HERE IN OUR SHOPPING AROUND FOR A TOW-ABLE CAR. WE WENT TO A COUPLE OF PLACES. REIRDON DODGE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THEY TRIED TO SELL US A STOLEN VEHICLE AND IT WAS NOT TIL WE SAW THE CAR FAX THAT WE FOUND OUT IT HAD BEEN STOLEN.
ALSO DUWAYNE LANE IS NOT A GOOD PLACE EITHER, THEY SAY THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU BUT THAT OLD LINE HAS WORN OUT AND THEY DO NOT TAKE CARE OF YOU.
WE WENT BACK TO ROY ROBINSON AND SO FAR SO GOOD, WE HAVE A DEAL IN THE WORKS BUT WE WILL SEE.  STAY TUNED FOR THIS ONE.

DRIVE CAREFUL OUT THERE MY FRIENDS, REMEMBER THE 4-WHEELERS DO NOT LIKE YOU BEING IN THEIR WAY AND DO NOT NOTICE YOU AND WILL DRIVE DANGEROUSLY.

Greeting to all my Friends on the road;

I know it has been a while since the last post but work is work and travel is travel.  As was once said I travel when I can and work when I should.  But just wanted to up date you one the news.

1. Had to take the Motorhome back to Roy's had a problem with the sewer line and the furnace, They fixed the line and on the 5th they will fix the furnace.  all about customer service with Roy Robinson.

As for KM and Beachwood well we have not heard from them about fixing the situation, Seems that status qo is always the same up there. it is no wonder they give out free memberships they can't sell them.  I will still hold off any more criticism of the other parks until I visit them.  But I have feed back from others who said they had the same problems with the other camps in Washington state.

The following have been given out and I do not give stars easily. I may be tough on the ratings but I would rather be tough and make sure my friends get a great camping experience than be easy and have you all get shafted.

Roy Robinson (****) 4 stars is the best I can give them they are the best dealers out there in my mind.

5 Star RV on Aurora (***.5) 3.5 Stars  They are great for sales and their customer service is great, but their maintenance department needs work...I have talked to people about 5 Star and they all seem to complain about the maintenance they received from them. from failed satellite to engine repair.

Poulsbo RV (*) 1 Star  Their lots look well organized and full of RV's great selection, But you can look around or shop, they are rude when it comes to people just looking to see what is out there,  the sales department does not want you to waste their time jsut come in buy a motor home and leave and be happy, does not matter if you got a motorhome you not satisfied with...Many I have talked to have said they will never go back to Poulsbo ever again. and in the RV industry Return buyers is Important.  I have hear bad news about their maintenance departments to, they do the minimum work.

Beachwood Resort (**) sales and organization is bad, they stuff people in like sardines. no real pace over sold and over booked sites.  Not friendly people who run or work at Beachwood and they do not want to hear about the negative .  or listen to their customers.

SunLake Resort (***) this camping sites has a great location, they have great sites plenty of room and do not try and fit you in like sardines.  although it is a state park it is still a great way to spend a weekend or a few days just having fun.  I is a State park, you have to reserve and you pick your spot, have great full service sites, and though the price is a bit high it is worth the cost to stay .

Baker Lakes campground (***) I gave them 3 stars also though they are a state park and no hook ups that we saw I have heard they have them.  We walked around the camp and found it to be well organized and clean, again cost is much but worth it is your looking for a great fishing lake.

Olallie State Park (**) state parks usually are for blue tent campers not motor home campers such is the one.  We went in a capmer and had a gret time but I would not take my motor home. no hook ups, not sewer and although it is spacious it is not motorhome park, jsut getting in is not easy.  lots of water corssing the road and I would nott take anything bigger than a truck and camper there.

Fort Townsend State Park (**) there are plenty of hook up in the woods, but the rest rooms and showers were not well kept while we were there. Information was hard to find, Great for campers and truck ampers and small RV's not for bigger motorhomes.

I will keep you posted out there.  Have a great trip and a wonder filled journey.

remember life is about the journey not the destination

K&M and Birchwood Resort in Blaine WA.

K&M and Birchwood Resort in Blaine WA.  DO Not Go and Do Not Join
(*)1 Stars
Welcome fellow Travelers and Hope all is well out there in the road.

When we purchased our RV from Roy Robinson in Marysville we were given a complimentary membership in K&M and were called 5 times by the sales department at K&M at Birch wood in Blaine Washington.  We finally made a reservation and we knew we would have to listen the the sales sh-peel. so we got the RV ready and headed to Blaine. we arrived at 3PM and understandable it being Friday it was busy.

We pulled up to the security gate and checked it ,,, things from there went down hill... We were told that a salesman would go with us and show us where to park. NO SALESMAN APPEARED. The we were told to just "Drive around and find a place"  Mind you we are first time RV'er and this was suppose to a sales visit. Customer Service Stank.  We drove around for about 30 minutes and could not find anyplace to park so we went back to "the Welcome Building" The security person said there was two sales people on and one was busy with a tour and the other was on the phone, so we would have to wait. we waited. and waited and finally he said we just need to continue driving around.  a 36ft diesel pusher we are new to owning and we just drive around.  So we drove around.  Finally after another 20 minutes we found a space in the sardine can. Could not open our sideout very far and the we were so close the rv next to us I was getting wet from their water hose. Our MH Is 50 watt and all they had was 30,

We finally got setteled in and rested the first night.  we were to have a meeting with the sales department the next morning at 10AM. we got there at 9:45 and asked to wait because we were early. No Problem.

After a few minutes John came in and lead us to him desk, and begin his ssales presentation.  I interupted him, and begin explaining to him about the arrival problems, his exact words "This is a negative free zone"  and did not wish to listen to our complaints.  Finally my wife convinced him to listen and and did not. we talked and he interpreted like he has his words already preset to say and he did not care what problems we had.  After about 20 minutes of us talking and him not listening his words were "We do not take reservation in July and August"  it is in the book....Like we had a book, and we were not told this over the phone. (Remember they called us 5 times to confirm the reservation)

Every night our power went out, and we had to reset the breakers on the post.  though we had a 30W adapter.  and conserved power.

The whole experience was not a full waste of time. we got to meet a great family who was our neighbors who helped us set up and learn about our New Motorhome.

When we got home Sunday there was a call from Beach-wood saying we owed them 2900.00 for the books they never gave us. the salesman fell on this one.  We also got a call from the salesman saying we had lied to him about coming back into the office before we left, NOT....we went back and we were told he had left for the day,  when we drove out Sunday morning we told the person at the security gate that He should let John know that we were not interested and would not be purchasing a membership.

Birchwood and K&M  are not Customer Service or Customer Oriented at all.  their layout is confusing for a first times and after talking to a couple of people their video presentation does not present the truth about them.  AT THIS TIME WE COULD NOT RECOMMEND BIRCHWOOD OR K&M FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT MAYBE A FUTURE WASTE DISPOSAL COMPANY.

UPDATE FROM KM  THEY SENT ME THIS LETTER... JUST PASSING THE BUCK LOOKS LIKE TO ME

I have forwarded your complaint to Beachwood, K/M is a separate corporation from Beachwood, We allow their members to use K/M in their package, I would greatly appreciate you taking K/M’s name off of your blog.  Beachwood is owned by Sound Pacific Resources, if you have any issues with any K/M properties, I would love to assist you.

Thank you

Megellion GPS Software and Hardware

For over 5 years now I have used Magellan Software and a Magellan GPS system, I have contented with their maps updates not being proficient, Their software re-installs and lack of finding correct addresses.  We purchased a new Magellan last December and sure enough , just when you think they got it right, they didn't.  The new one is having problems, finding the places I put in the "Content Manager"  the Content Manager software is having problems syncing with their servers to find the addresses and if the content manager does not find the address it will not sync with the Magellan to add the address.  Since I have owned Magellan GPS's they have proved over and over that they are not a great company.  NOW that we have purchased our RV and I am off the road, We thought we would get the new RV GPS, BUT their "Customer Loyalty Program" I would pay more for the new one than I paid for the one I got in December and they would take the one back and give me nothing for it..

As a new person to RVing I am trying to find a good Customer service Company that actually does have a Customer Loyalty Program and not a screw the customer Program...

I would not recommend Magellan for any of you searching for a new GPS,  HOWEVER, having not used any of the other ones, (Doing research now) I am holding my recommendations til I try a couple, like Garmin, which I have a friend that swears by his, or maybe Rand McNalley.

Magellan just lost a customer, and a loyal one at that

Good Day my friends and bloggers, Travelers All

I woke up this morning after a restless night of sleep, thinking about the one deal Roy Robinson wants to make us on a 2003 Coachman.  it sounds like a great offer, only I have had questions all night long.  They want no service warranty.  Most of us know that RV's have problems, and if we are to travel cross country and see family and friends, and perhaps have our grand kids on the RV, it would not be good to break down in the middle of no where with no help in sight.  Now I know Good Sam club offers a great Maintenance contract, and I know that others do to, BUT, the reason I purchase a vehicle or boat, or Motor-home from a dealer is not for the popularity of the dealership. I do it because I can usually get some type of warranty, for at least one or two years.

I am not sure about the rest of you but break downs unnerve me, Oh then why get any kind of vehicle, that is what your asking, well gotta travel, got to enjoy life. and gotta go see my grand kids every once in a while.

I am still unsure of my rating system for Roy Robinson.  We are visiting a few RV places this weekend and see what we can find

JUST SO YOU ARE AWARE.  THERE ARE SOME GOOD SITES OUT THERE I HAVE LISTED HERE

http://changingears.com/rv-sec-manufacturers-sort-brand.shtml
Changing Gears give you great resources for finding the type of motorhome your looking for, they also let you know what to look for and some great information.  I checked them out and they helped us alot.

 http://www.pissedconsumer.com/

This is a great web site to research Dealers. I found it helpful in knowing the dealers in this state and how they treat customers with problems.

http://www.rvtrader.com/

Finally RV Trader is a great place to look for an RV..  it gives you private and dealers nationwide, you can compare the RV's and choose the one that is right for you

Happy Travel to all....I will be updateing this every chance I get.  stay tuned for the adventures in RV Shopping the pitfalls and the mountain tops.

So I contacted Poulsbo RV about their service before the sale and what we experienced and here is the e-mail I got back....Seems Poulsbo feels people shopping around is "Just wasting their time"

My Answer

You obviously did not read the Blog.  We are planning on purchasing an rv. but Customer service before and after the sale is important to me and others.  Your store in Everett. is not providing one of these... Your questions are just an example of what I mean.....

Instead of asking if I plan to purchase.. or just go from lot to lot.. you might be asking your staff why did we not provide a good service before the sale.. and how can we make your experience better

Poulsbo is out as a sales portion of our buying an RV.  we are going to other lots and if we find great PRE-sales customer service we will think about buying. and the process we go thru will determine the sale

We give great service to customers that plan on purchasing not time wasters and tire kickers.   Please stopping wasting our sales staff’s time with silly emails.  Just by one from someone and go enjoy yourself.  You are way over complicating this process.

OVER COMPLICATING THE PROCESS.??????.. WE ARE SPENDING OVER 100,000.00 ON MOTOR HOMES AND IF WE WANT TO SHOP AROUND AND FIND THE ONE WE LIKE AND MAKE SURE WE GET GREAT SERVICE THAT IS OVER COMPLICATING THE PROCESS??????

I LIKE KICKING THE TIRES, WHO KNOW ONE AT POULSBO MIGHT GO FLAT WHEN YOU KICK THEM, MAYBE WASTING MY TIME AT POULSBO IS A WASTE OF TIME ...
It's Sunday July 15th, and we finally got a message from a general manager a r Roy Robinson.  Seems they are not happy with the truth getting out.

We are going next week up to a couple of more RV Dealers and see what they are like.  I will post them here as soon as I get the facts.  I can not say which one we will visit, but you can bet the truth of how we were treated will be here.

Saturday, July 14, 2012

This year My Wife and I have been shopping around for RV's. we have been to a lot of RV shows and dealerships.  here is our experience with the dealer ships we have been to the ones we recommend and do not recommend

Poulsbo RV =  ( * 1 STAR )      one of the biggest dealers in Washington state, we have all heard of the great logo, and saw their signs all over the state.  We arrived there are around 1PM and could not find a salesman, then we started walking around looking at the rv's they were all locked, so we could only see the outside.  So we went in the office and ask, "Can we take a look at the Motor-homes inside"  we were asked "Are you buying today" we said we were just window shopping and might be if we find what we are looking for, we were told "I do not have time for window shoppers"  although they did let us look in a couple of Motor-homes we were interested in they were not customer friendly I would not go back and purchase an RV if the slaes is like that the customer service and maintenance might be the same.

5-Star RV on Hwy 99 in South Everett  ( *** 3 Stars)==  From the time we arrived though they were short handed one gentleman showed us around every Motor-Home, took the time to explain the motor-home and opened everyone, he informed us we could rent a motor-home for a week try it out if we liked it the rental fee would go towards the purchase. (WOW)  the salesman was patient and understanding it was our first RV of this size and he wanted to make sure we got what was best for us....  in the end my wife's brother bought one from them and not a great experience, things did not work, satellite broke, problems with the toilet, NOW the company did fix a few things and that kept cost to my brother in law down, but in the end it cost him around 2000.00 over and above the cost of the Motor-home.  I gave them 3 stars because it seems they did not check out the motor-home before they sold it.

Roy Robinson RV in Marysville - ( **** 4 STAR )  We arrived there on a Saturday and the RV's were open and we could look inside walk around no pressure to buy, just look, and that was great, we did see a few we liked, but we were window shopping,  a month later after researching and researching we went back to Roy Robinson and met with a salesman, we discussed the motor home market and the ones we were interested in.  We told him we were looking at a diesel pusher but our budget and income would not go that high so we looked at a gas motor-home.  a 34 ft Itasca, it was beautiful and in our budget,  we ended up looking at a 36 ft Coachman and loved it, it was not our "Dream" but for a first timer it was great, the price was right and so we applied online for the RV,  we went thru the process of two weeks, and finally test drove the motor-home with my brother in law on board, we looked around it and discussed it in detail.  then on the first Saturday in July we were told we were approved for 6.47% interest and a reasonable Payment with a $4,000.00 trade in on our truck and camper and a 1 year Bumper to Bumper Warranty.  the payment was what we could afford and the interest rate was acceptable.  So we could pick up our motor-home.  We had to wait because we found a few things they needed to fix, nothing big but they seemed to want to get it right, THEN the big day came, we spent 3 hours with the technician going through a walk through, Bill covered everything, and we were ready to drive away, handed the keys and ready,  THEN THE NIGHTMARE....Remember we were told we were approved, remember we told them we did not have perfect credit, remember we told them about our budget, THEY SAID WE WERE APPROVED. A WEEK PASSED.  just before we were to drive away with our motor-home we were told we were denied. and could not get the financing..THEY WAITED A WEEK. A WEEK....GOT US EXCITED AND THEN TOLD US...

UPDATE =  WHEN NEWS OF WHAT HAPPENED REACHED THE GM AT ROY ROBINSON. HE CONTACTED US AND SAID HE WOULD WORK FEVERISHLY TO FIX THE SITUATION.  He had been in contact and worked all day trying to get us the motor home we had agreed on.  I WANT TO POINT OUT HERE THAT OUR DEBT/INCOME IS NOT ROY ROBINSON S FAULT, OUR CREDIT RATING IS NOT THEIR FAULT EITHER, The GM called us today and made an offer of 10% interest, higher payment and no service warranty... which is a concern.  However he also gave us a 8500.00 trade in... WOW.. so we are still considering it.  I have not changed my star rating yet.

ATTN; I HAVE CHANGED THE STAR RATING BECAUSE THEY PROVED THEY DO CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER BEFORE AND AFTER THE SALE...

I WANT TO REMIND YOU THIS IS OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THESE RV DEALERS..

PURCHASING A MOTOR HOME FROM ROY ROBINSON IN MARYSVILLE WA.
in August 2012 we went to Roy Robinson RV just window shopping and we met with a salesman, who showed us a few RV, they were no high pressure just letting us look, then the wham came. we were told that they could get us financing even if our credit was bad,I want to tell you all that after a lot of mix ups and calls, and the GM getting involved we have a beautiful motor-home and now we can get on the road. again....The experience for the past few weeks have taught us that ROY ROBINSON IN MARYSVILLE TRULY DOES CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS BEFORE AND AFTER THE SALE..
